Dr. Ariane Chapelle

Ariane Chapelle, PhD, is an internationally recognized trainer and consultant in risk management. She is CEO and Managing Partner for Chapelle Consulting, based in London and with offices in both Brussels and Geneva. Her firm is partnering with The Global Associations of Value Chain Organizations for the roll-out of the PECB-approved Operational Risk Management (ORM) Certification Curricula of courses and examinations.

Dr. Chapelle, who speaks both English and French fluently, is Honorary Reader at University College London for the course ''Operational Risk Measurement for Financial Institutions’ and is a Fellow of the Institute of Operational Risk. 

Dr Chapelle runs Chapelle Consulting, a training and consulting practice in risk management serving Tier 1 to Tier 3 financial organisations and international institutions, including central banks and UN agencies. In 2019, Chapelle Consulting received the Risk.net Award for ‘Outstanding Achievement in the Year in Operational Risk’.  

Dr. Chapelle is a former holder of the Chair of International Finance at the University of Brussels with backgrounds in internal audit, credit risk and investment risk. She has been active in operational risk management since 2000 and was formerly head of operational risk management at ING Group and Lloyds Banking Group.

Ariane’s new textbook, 'Operational Risk Management: Best Practices in the Financial Services Industry', published by Wiley Finance Series in December 2018, has rapidly become the No.1 best seller in its field. It has now been translated into French by Pearson France.

David Lannoy

David Lannoy is the Associate Director of Risk Training and Practices for our partner, Chapelle Consulting. He speaks both English and French fluently and has over 20 years of experience in risk disciplines across the financial services sector as well as across many other industry sectors. His work in banking, financial services / finance, public services, life sciences and telecommunications have highlighted some of his industry-specific work in establishing Risk Management Process Maturity Models for others to learn from and emulate.

David has been a passionate leader in the core risk areas of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) methods, tools and training and he brings a wealth of industry knowledge in risk controls and mitigation.

David’s most significant achievements relate to his work with moving the practice of risk management to a higher plane of understanding and discipline where risk maturity models have become the industry standard for enterprise adoption and “Risk Journey Road-mapping”. In essence, David’s combination of these elements have led to the financial services industry first accomplishment, which is the introduction of PECB-approved Operational Risk Management (ORM) Certification Curricula of courses and examinations to every global geography.
